Video made in Dagestan shows doctors' misbehaviour at surgery

A video was filmed in Dagestan showing a surgeon operating a woman under the general anaesthesia, who is dancing, laughing and quitting the room in the course of surgery.

The video was presented by Ahmet Khaibulaev, a deputy of the rural soviet of the village of Novosasitili, Khasavyurt District of Dagestan. He asserts that the video shows Ahmed Magomedov, doctor of the Central Clinical Hospital of Khasavyurt.

"Recently, my friend's wife was an in-patient at the maternity ward; and the video was spread among the nurses," Ahmet Khaibulaev told the "Caucasian Knot." "The surgeon who operates in this manner is praised as a professional; however, his behaviour is unethical; and what he does in the video looks blasphemous at all."

Ahmed Magomedov himself assets that not he, but another person is pictured in the video. He is sure that he was "set up". According to his version, three years ago he had a conflict with the administration of Khasavyurt; and he believes that the video was made in those days.

"Then, they wanted to dismiss me; and I really left," Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot". "But later the hospital managers asked me to come back; and I again work in this hospital."

Vladimir Ivanov, Doctor of Medicine, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, a narcologist by his medical specialization, said in his comment to the "Caucasian Knot" about the video obtained from Dagestan that the depicted behaviour of the surgeons during operation is a violation of medical norms.

"A surgeon shall not get away and move his hands out of the operation area - these are the laws of surgery; however, he goes away, then approaches and takes surgical tools again. The wound may get infected", the expert explained.
