Armenian opposition asserts that police prevents a rally

On the eve of the rally of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) policemen blocked most of the roads, running from villages to highways, preventing people's arrival in the capital, states the opposition. The police deny this information.

"We receive calls from our representatives in the regions and from ordinary citizens who tell that policemen take away driver's licenses from taxi and shuttle taxi drivers, who work on the routes leading from regions to Yerevan," Arman Musinyan, press secretary of the ANC, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent and added that the presence in Armenia of a number of European delegations has no effect on policemen's actions.

The Police of Armenia told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that this data has nothing to do with reality.

Earlier, while answering questions of the media about the reasons for obstructing by the police on the days of rallies of the work of transport facilities, which bring people from localities to the capital, Alik Sarkisyan, head of the Police of Armenia, said: "I refute this information; none of the roads running from the regions to Yerevan is closed; if so, please provide me with the relevant videos. I repeat that I gave no orders to block roads."

Let us remind you that today another rally of the ANC, dedicated to fulfilment by the authorities of the opposition's demands put forward at the previous meeting on March 1, is to be held at the Matenadaran.
