Resident of Dagestan reports kidnapping of his son

On March 9, unidentified armed persons in masks abducted Rustam Kurbanaliev, born in 1971, a resident of the village of Sultanyangiyurt, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan. Dagestani rights defenders were informed about it by his father Kurbanali Kurbanaliev.

According to his story, on March 9, at about 3:00 p.m. the kidnappers stopped the taxi, in which Rustam was going from his home to Kizilyurt, and took him away, as reported by the HRC "Memorial", where the father turned for help.

On March 10 in the morning, his relatives filed their applications about the kidnapping to the prosecutor's office of Kizilyurt, GOVD (City Interior Department) of Kizilyurt and local FSB. They also managed to find a taxi driver who gave Rustam a lift. On March 10, Rustam's father and the driver went to the GOVD in order to have the driver questioned as a witness, but policemen, according to the father, refused to do so, while the on duty officer told them that Rustam had not been delivered there.

Nobody informed Rustam's family about his detention; his telephone did not answer. As of March 10, his relatives knew nothing about Rustam's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, according to his relatives, Rustam had been earlier repeatedly summoned to the police department "Kizilyurtovskiy", kept there for several hours, but later released, as he was not involved in any crimes.

In his appeal Kurbanali Kurbanaliev asks to help to find his son and restore his violated rights.

Rustam Kurbanaliev had earlier evidenced to the HRC "Memorial" on the murder of his friend Shamil Aliaskhabov, who had been officially charged of self-explosion on January 11. Kurbanaliev then stated that there was no explosion, either before the accident or after it. "There was an execution of a person; but there was no explosion," he stated. Shamil's relatives also asserted that there were no wounds typical for a self-explosion on the body of the deceased young man.
