Transparency International ranks Georgia fifth by low level of corruption in police

Georgia is in the fifth place in the world in terms of police corruption, while three percent of the polled citizens of the country said that they gave bribes last year to officials of state institutions. These are the results of the international non-governmental organization (NGO) "Transparency International".

Its report states that only Finland, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland are ahead of Georgia in lower corruption level.

The document also says that last year three percent of the population gave bribes to officials of one of the nine country's government agencies, the "GHN" reports.

78 percent of the polled respondents believe that over the past three years corruption went down, although nine percent hold the opposite opinion.

Let us note here that in February in Tbilisi the Georgian opposition presented photos of residences of senior state officials to rebut the statements of President Mikhail Saakashvili that there is no "elite corruption" in his country.
