In Moscow, organizers of first-year-students' party from "Elbrusoid" Foundation taught Caucasian youth how to behave in Moscow

On February 26, the Moscow Concert Hall "Izmailovskiy" hosted a traditional party of the first-year student, organized by the foundation for promotion of Karachay-Balkar youth named "Elbrusoid". One of the main topics raised by esteemed guests of the event in their addresses to former entrees was the behaviour of Caucasian youth in Moscow.

The first-year students and young guests of the party differed in the estimates of the ways to smooth interethnic conflicts: some believe that clashes should and may be prevented, while others are confident that efficient actions may be taken only by the leadership of the country.

The programme of the party was divided into several parts - congratulations to students-freshmen, cocktail party, concert and the so-called "dance marathon".

While addressing the first-year students with congratulations and guidance, the special guests focused, among other things, on behaviour of Caucasian youth in Russian capital. "You are representing the nations living in the territory of our republics; and the way you behave yourself and how you convey our culture will form the opinion about all our people," said in particular Akhmat Erkenov and noted that "he would not like the events that happened in December touch on the youth."

"For me, such events are another opportunity to communicate with my fellow-countrymen, make new friends and acquaintances, and learn more about our culture," Magomed, a Karachay national and a first-year student of the Moscow State Law Academy, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He did not take part in the December Moscow interethnic clashes. "When yet in the republic, I knew about such conflicts in the capital. But I don't support them, I'm for peace, for friendship, I'm a pacifist. Moreover, we were under threat of exclusion," he said.

Amina, a first-year student who entered last year the State University of Management (SUM), believes that in order to avoid interethnic conflicts "youngsters should not yield to provocations."

As believed by Ibragim, a Karachay national and a 4th year student of the MSTU "Stankin", no actions are able to change the acute interethnic situation in Moscow and other Russian cities. "In such situation, little depends on ordinary persons. All conflicts stem from the fact that authorities want it. And should they change nothing; moreover, we'll not be able to affect it," he said.
