Father of Shamkhal resident kidnapped in Dagestan fears for his life

Gazimagomed Gaziev, a villager of Shamkhal-Station, Kirov District of Makhachkala, believes that the abduction of his son Magomed Gaziev could be organized by local militiamen. The local MIA knows nothing about the incident, while the local militia unit promised help in searching the kidnapped person.

Let us remind you that at about 1 p.m. unidentified persons put Magomed Gaziev into a black car and took away in an unknown place. Several villagers were eyewitnesses of the abduction.

"I was making my day-time namaz, when I was called and told that my son was forced by armed men in masks into a Lada-2114 car. Then the car disappeared at high speed left in an unknown direction," Gazimagomed Gaziev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He addressed the township militia unit, where they promised to help him in searching his son.

Gaziev-senior said that he feared for his son's life. "I suspect that local militiamen are involved in the incident. They can kill my son, announce him a member of the armed underground, throw his body to the place of some special operation and then declare that the kidnapping was staged by militants," he said.

The press service of the Dagestani MIA told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they knew nothing about the incident, while the township militia unit reported that Gazimagomed Gaziev had addressed them; and the necessary search was underway.

Let us note here that Gaziev family members had been repeatedly detained by law enforcement bodies. On May 18, 2010, Gazimagomed Gaziev and his three sons - Shamil, Abdurakhman and Magomed - were detained. Then, the case was addressed by Vice-Premier of Dagestan Rizvan Kurbanov; Svetlana Gannushkina, a member of the Board for Development of Civil Society Institutions and Human Rights under the President of Russia; Oleg Orlov, chairman of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial"; local human rights activists and journalists.
