Mother of Chechen natives accused of recruiting Egle Kusaite claims trial violations

As stated by Tamara Magmadova, mother of Apti Magmadov and Aishat Magmadova, in her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the inquiry and trial on her children's case are held with numerous violations.

"I have an opinion that prosecution's witnesses had been prepared in advance by FSB officers, who wrote texts for the witnesses to be pronounced when giving evidences against my children," said Tamara Magmadova.

According to her story, many witnesses who appeared at the courthouse, had never seen Apti and Aishat, but evidence against them.

Tamara wrote in her appeal to Russian and foreign human rights organizations where she seeks ways to influence the court: "Currently, the investigation materials of the Russia's FSB have been sent to the Moscow Regional Court of Krasnogorsk (on 12.01.2011). The hearing of my children's case is held behind closed doors. The court ignores the fact that they had never been tried before; and that my son - Magmadov, Apti Sultanovich - has seven minor children, while he is Category 3 invalid."

The court did not find it possible to release Magmadova, Aishat Sultanovna, who has her permanent registration in Moscow, and Magmadov, Apti Sultanovich, under recognizance not to leave.

"My son needs medical help and inpatient hospital treatment, which is confirmed by epicrises from medical institutions and excerpts from medical records. He suffered Botkin's disease, tuberculosis, mutilation after a serious accident, fractured necks of both hips and a traumatic brain injury," said Tamara.

A similar situation, according to the mother, is with her daughter. For a year already she is kept in the SIZO (pre-trial prison); they cannot now call an ophthalmologist for examination and prescribe glasses or appoint treatment. Earlier Aishat was subjected to laser correction of retina of both eyes and needs constant examination and treatment of her vision, which is getting worse all the time.

The SIZO bosses explain that in order to invite a doctor there should be at least ten complaints from the prisoners. Until there are ten persons who need an eye doctor, Aishat Magmadova will have to wait.
