Boss of Krasnodar GUVD, sacked after massacre in Kuschevskaya, decorated with medal

Today, Rashid Nurgaliev, Head of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), personally decorated retired Lieutenant-General of Militia Sergey Kucheruk with the Degree-2 "Medal for Management Merits". Kucheruk was sacked after the massacre in the village of Kuschevskaya, Krasnodar Territory.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Sergey Kucheruk's resignation, who had been in command of the GUVD of the Krasnodar Territory since 2001, was announced by Dmitry Medvedev on November 30, 2010, during his annual address to the Parliament of the Russian Federation. The President did not mention the name of Kuschevskaya, where the massacre had occurred, but explained that Kucheruk's dismissal had to do with "one criminal episode."

The President also stated "direct merge of the authorities with criminals" and offered the FSB and other law enforcement bodies to examine the activities of the authorities of the Krasnodar Territory.

"Despite what has happened, we can not underestimate the contribution made by Sergey Alexandrovich into the work of the Kuban militia; therefore, I took the decision to award him," the "RBC" quotes the Interior Minister.

Let us note here that today the court of Oktiabrskiy District of Krasnodar extended until April 24 the custody of Alexander Khodych, head of the department to combat extremism of the GUVD of the Krasnodar Territory stationed in the village of Kuschevskaya, who is suspected of abuse of powers.
