North-Caucasian performers demonstrate their national culture at festival in Moscow

On February 20, a culture festival of Caucasian nations, organized by the Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations (RCCN) with support of the Government of Moscow was held in the concert hall of the Metropolitan Hotel "Cosmos".

North-Caucasian and Transcaucasian artists - members of dance groups, performers and musicians - demonstrated the culture of different nations living in their territory. Thus, among the participants of the festival were the choreographic ensemble "Sattoy", dance ensemble "Namus", People's Artist of Ingushetia and Merited Artist of several North-Caucasian republics Tamara Yandieva and People's Artist of the Chechen Republic and the Republic of Ingushetia Ali Dimaev.

Besides, during the concert video clips were screened telling about the culture of Transcaucasian countries and the activities of the RCCN.

At the same time the foyer of the concert hall housed an exhibition presenting Caucasian landscapes, paintings, articles of decorative and applied arts, souvenir and printed materials.

The event lasted for almost 4 hours - from 7 to 11 p.m. After the concert, the guests of the festival could dance Lezghinka in the foyer.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Moscow Festival of Caucasian Nations was initially due to take place back on December 21, 2010; however, it was postponed because of the December riots in Moscow.
