Activists of "Beslan Mothers" meet Medvedev

Today, members of the Association of Victims of Terror Acts "Beslan Mothers" had a meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev, who came to Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia, to hold a sitting of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

On his way from the airport in Vladikavkaz, President Medvedev visited the memorial cemetery in the "City of Angels" in Beslan, where the casualties of the September 2004 terror act are buried. The people who suffered in that terror act were waiting for him there hoping to communicate.

"We were not let to approach Medvedev. He saw us and came up. We gave him the statements prepared by 'Beslan Mothers' for the anniversary of the terror act, and, as we believe, never reached him. Being the President, Medvedev should know everything; therefore we asked him to meet with us," Elvira Tuaeva, one of the participants of the meeting, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"People know a lot; we're a part of the society; and we want to be listened to also. Maybe we'll find and prompt you on how to defeat terrorism, because we are women - mothers who have gone through the pain and this grief. For so many years Putin had failed to visit the cemetery, while Medvedev promised to our leaders to meet us," she added.

She thanked the president that, unlike after the Beslan terror act, after the explosion at the Moscow "Domodedovo" Airport on January 24 "at least someone was punished." According to Ms Tuaeva, the president has assured that the criminal investigation of the Beslan terror act will be duly completed.

"No one was punished after the Beslan terror act. There are only those rewarded and those promoted to higher posts. Although we went to Putin; and he promised to supervise and be aware of the course of the inquiry. But so far nothing has been done," the "Beslan Mothers" activist said.
