In Makhachkala, militiamen shelled near the house of UVD boss

In the capital of Dagestan, near the house of Ali Akhmedov, head of the city's UVD (Interior Department), a sniper opened fire on two militiamen. One of them was wounded, and the second managed to escape in an armoured shelter, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Mairbek Agaev from the Dagestani edition named "Chernovik".

"One employee of the PPS (post-and-patrol service) was wounded, while the second one managed to hide in the armoured booth installed near the house" said Agaev. His life was saved by the booth; such armoured shelters are now installed in Makhachkala in the initiative of the head of the own security division of the UVD."

"As soon as Ali Akhmedov was appointed in April, he put road signs 'No Traffic!' in the territories and streets around his house, and set up guards all around. People were constantly complaining: it's difficult to pass and impossible to drive," said the source.

Mr Agaev does not exclude that today's shelling of militiamen had to do with people's dissatisfaction with increased security measures around the house of the city militia boss, which obstruct movement of other citizens.

The interior bodies of the city confirm that today a militiaman was wounded by an unknown person in Makhachkala.
