Every Georgian family to receive a food voucher

As stated on February 11 by Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, in his annual address to the Parliament of Georgia, in March every Georgian family will get one-time food voucher worth 30 laris (about 16 US dollars).

"A voucher is a security that can be cashed at the bank. All owners of vouchers will be able to give them to other families," said the president.

Mr Saakashvili reminded that one of the steps of the government aimed at mitigating social problems was the decision to disseminate 20-laris (USD 11) worth vouchers on electricity, the "News-Georgia" writes.

As to internally displaced persons (IDPs), they will get their 20 laris as monetary help, because the state is already covering the cost of electricity they consume.

Until June 1 this year, voucher owners will be able to present them to other people, the "Echo of the Caucasus" Radio reports.
