"Rosa Khutor" resort in Sochi hosts first Alpine ski races

Today, Sochi held the first trial competition event in preparation for the 2014 Olympics - the official races of the Cup of Russia in Alpine skiing. The competition was attended by about 60 racers.

"This is our local Russian tournament, but it is observed by the International Olympic Committee and the International Ski Federation," Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister, told journalists at the opening ceremony, the "Interfax" reports

According to Mr Kozak, by the conclusion of the International Ski Federation (FIS), the European Cup, which starts in Sochi in a week, will be held at a high level. "We're sure to hold the Olympic Games at the highest level, both in terms of financial security and organizational," Mr Kozak said as quoted by the ITAR-TASS.
