Head of Kabardino-Balkaria is ready to meet militants' parents

Head of the Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov is ready to meet the rebels' parents who have turned to him asking for a meeting. Mr Kanokov told about it on February 7 at a sitting of the Public Chamber of the Republic.

The letter of militants' parents was announced by Valery Khatazhukov, a member of the Public Chamber and head of the Republic's Human Rights Centre.

Parents admit in their letter that their kids "at different times and for different reasons joined illegal armed groups, and are now on the search list." "We're not going to blanch them and believe that each of them should be punished in accordance with their deeds," add the authors of the letter.

At the same time, the parents ask the head of the republic to meet them to discuss possible options for their "participation in settling the current situation in the republic."

The letter bears signatures of five persons.

The head of the KBR Arsen Kanokov said that he was ready to meet militants' parents: "If we save just one person, it'll be already an achievement."

Mr Kanokov has stressed that the militants who wish to surrender will be guaranteed life; however, they will not manage to evade responsibility.

Valery Khatazhukov informed the head of the republic about the case, which occurred on the eve with the Mamishev family, when Molotov cocktail bombs were thrown into their yard.
