Inquiry fails to confirm any "Pakistani trace" in Domodedovo terror act

Investigators have no evidences about any involvement of Pakistani militants in the terror act at the Moscow Domodedovo Airport on January 24, said a source from the operative-investigatory group. Doctors also say that when making surgeries they did not remove any granite chips from victims' bodies: the striking elements were mostly metal or plastic fragments.

Let us remind you that the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" wrote today that the explosive device used in the terror act at Domodedovo Airport was stuffed not only with metal striking elements but also with fine pebbles and granite chips. The newspaper noted that earlier such "stone" bombs were widely used mainly by Palestinian suicide bombers.

"We have no such data so far," the "Interfax" has reported with reference to its source from the operative-investigatory group.

A doctor from Moscow Hospital No. 20 said that the condition of their two patients brought after the explosion was satisfactory at present. According to his story, during surgeries only metal striking elements were removed from the victims' bodies," the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Konstantin Kotenko, Director General of the Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Centre (FMBC) of the Federal Medical Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, said that apart from metal striking elements also plastic fragments were removed from victims' tissues. "When you have enclosed space, and kiosks and other items around, of course, plastic and other fragments will get into human tissues," Mr Kotenko explained.

Meanwhile, earlier it was reported that the FSB had requested help in investigating the terror acts in Domodedovo from Pakistani authorities," the ITAR-TASS reported. "It is not for the first time that Russia applied to Islamabad for help in investigating terror acts - in particular, after explosions in Moscow metro in March 2010, Moscow requested help from Pakistani law enforcement bodies," the "RBC" reports.
