About 600 refugees in Tbilisi seek political asylum
About three hundred refugees living in Tbilisi have asked for political asylum in Germany and France. About the same number of them want to apply for asylum to the US Embassy in Georgia.
"Up to 150 refugees have already applied for asylum to the German Embassy; about the same number - to the French one. On February 2, about 300 refugees intend to appeal to the US Embassy," said David Malazoniya, head of the "Civil Movement of Refugees".
According to Mr Malazoniya, refugees have already notified the ambassadors accredited in Georgia about the process of their eviction, the "GHN" writes.
Starting January 31, the activists of the "Civil Movement of Refugees" are going to visit the regions, where the refugees were evicted, and get familiar with their life there. And on February 2 another action will be held in front of the Parliament, where refugees will protest against their mass eviction from Tbilisi to the countryside, the "Georgia Online" reports.
