Resident of Kabardino-Balkaria detained for false reports of bomb threats

Agents of the Department of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) detected and detained a resident of Nalchik, who spreads false anonymous reports about upcoming explosions of banks in the capital of the republic.

"On January 20-26, 2011, the work of several banks in Nalchik was paralyzed because of received electronic messages about self-made bombs planted in these banks. Anonymous e-letters arrived to e-mail boxes of commercial banks - 'Eurokommerz', 'BUM-BANK', 'Nalchik' and the branch of the Inter-Regional Clearing Bank," reported the Joint Information Centre of the republic's law enforcement bodies.

In the course of operative and search actions, the sender of anonymous messages was detained - a resident of Nalchik, born in 1985, with higher technical education and temporarily jobless.

According to the detainee, he sent messages with the aim to paralyze the work of the banks.
