Norwegian court decides to deport Maria Ameli before January 27

Maria Ameli (real name Madina Salamova), 25, a writer and a native of North Ossetia, does not lose hope, after the decision to deport her has stirred up the Norwegian society, to stay in Norway. Human rights activists and Maria's friends are sure that the trial and deportation decision were acts of retaliation from the authorities for exposure of corruption among bureaucrats in her book "Illegal Norwegian".

"According to the court decision, Madina Salamova will be deported to Russia before January 27. However, she can get back into Norway under a work visa, since several Norwegian companies have already expressed their intention to employ Maria Ameli. On the other hand, under the laws of Norway, a violation of immigration legislation entails deportation, followed by a ban to enter the country for several years.

Meanwhile in Norway actions in support of Maria Ameli take place with a demand to grant a residence permit to her.

The Norwegian public and human rights organizations, which support Maria, have appealed for help in resolving the situation to Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. However, he said that he would not interfere with Ameli's deportation to Russia in order not to create a precedent of bypassing the law, Radio Liberty reports.

Vladimir Isupov, press attaché of the Russian diplomatic mission in Oslo, has reported that the Russian Embassy has not yet contacted Maria Ameli, but is ready to help her if she applies for. According to his version, the native of North Ossetia does not want to address the Russian Embassy and consulate because she does not want to leave Norway, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

According to journalists, Madina's father was a prominent businessman and owner of several enterprises in Vladikavkaz. In 2000, the Salamov family moved to Finland, where they tried to get political asylum; then - to Norway, where they stay now in the status of illegal migrants.

Under the pseudonym Maria Ameli Madina wrote the book "Illegal Norwegian", where she told how a person without documents and legal status can live in Norway. The book, revealing the corrupt schemes of the officials associated with migration, was a real shock for Norwegian readers.

Human rights activists are sure that the trial and extradition are the acts of revenge of Norwegian law enforcers in response to revelation by her of corrupt officials. The authorities, on their part, insist that they just follow the law and stress that there are no threats to Madina's life in her homeland.
