Stavropol Territory: OMON fighter accused of deliberately knocking down a Korean by his car

An OMON (special militia) serviceman was detained in the Stavropol Territory; he is suspected of attacking, along with his friends, local Korean nationals. During the attack, they cried out nationalistic slogans. According to eyewitnesses, after the fight the militiaman deliberately knocked down one of the Koreans to death. So far, inspectors do not confirm any ethnic motives of the murder.

According to inspectors, on December 21, an OMON fighter was driving his VAZ-21124 car along Krasnaya Street of the village of Gofitskoe, Petrovskiy District, and deliberately crushed down Koreans. In particular, he hit down Vitaly Li, 36, a father of two children, who died in place from received bodily injuries.

As reported by eyewitnesses, the incident was preceded by a verbal conflict, when the OMON fighter, who was accompanied by two friends, insulted a group of Koreans referring to their nationality; then a fight broke out. Besides, as eyewitnesses assert, when already at the steering wheel of his car, the OMON employee was shouting "Russia for Russians!" According to the casualty's brother, the driver "was intentionally chasing people down the street, trying to crush them." "My brother couldn't escape. The assailant knocked him off by his car, and then ran over him with the wheels to death," said Eduard Li.

The inquiry bodies deny the presence of any nationalist motive in the actions of the law enforcement agent and his associates. "A criminal case was initiated under the murder article. No data was established that the murder was committed on the grounds of national enmity or hatred," said Ekaterina Danilova, a senior assistant of the head of the Regional Investigatory Department, as quoted by the "ATV-Stavropol".

Now the militiaman, already dismissed from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), is detained, the "NEWSru.com" reports.
