Case on dissemination of extremist leaflets initiated in Kalmykia

The local prosecutor's office has opened a criminal case under the article of "inciting hatred or hostility, and dignity humiliation" against a resident of Dagestan, who, according to the investigation, had promulgated extremist leaflets in the settlement named Artesian.

As reported by the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Kalmykia, on November 27, a 20-year-old resident of the Republic of Dagestan, while being in Artesian, Chernozemelskiy District, made at least four extremist leaflets by means of a printer and posted them in one of the street of the settlement.

On November 29, a meeting of residents was held in Artesian with participation of district top officials, power agents and deputies of the district and republic's level. The audience demanded to punish the culprit, the "Interfax" reports.

The leaflets are not quoted; however, as the Information-Analytical Centre "Sova" reports, the text had "anti-Kalmyk statements."

The suspect was detained and is in custody. Should his guilt be proved, he may be imprisoned for up to 5 years.
