Adallo: in his address to Federal Assembly Medvedev failed to mention Northern Caucasus

The famous poet and public figure Adallo said in his comment on the annual address of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to the Federal Assembly that he was surprised with its content - the President made no mentioning of Northern Caucasus. In their turn, politicians do not share this opinion, noting that the President drew public attention to all the country's problems.

Let us remind you that yesterday, on November 30, Mr Medvedev delivered his annual message to the Russia's Federal Assembly. This year the topic of Northern Caucasus was not included into his speech, whereas last year President Medvedev called safety in Northern Caucasus "the most serious domestic political problem" of Russia.

"Russia has many problems, but the most important, in my opinion, is Northern Caucasus. If the situation here fails to normalize, disintegration of Russia may start from here. And I'm amazed that the country's leader said not a word about the region," Ali Adallo told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Khizri Shikhsaidov, Deputy of the Russian State Duma from Dagestan, believes that Dmitri Medvedev is paying great attention to the region. "Of course, I noticed that the message said nothing about the situation in my homeland, but one should recall that the President spoke quite a lot on the topic recently in Pyatigorsk. I also know that Moscow pays plenty of attention to the region," he said.

Kamil Davdiev, head of the faction of the regional branch of "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party in Dagestani parliament, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was pleased with the content of the message: "Russian President drew public attention to all Russia's problems; now it's time to address them."

Eduard Khidirov, leader of the regional branch of the "Russia's Patriots" Party and Deputy of the People's Assembly of Dagestan, said that the speech of the country's leader was highly specific. "There was no twaddle. Real concerns were voiced out, and quite reasonable measures to deal with them were offered. Clear and quite viable targets were set; it's time to get to work now," stressed the Deputy. He positively treated the economic, demographic and political aspects of the message, as well as proposed changes in legislation.

"Mr Medvedev proposed a number of privileges for small businesses, including lower taxation - at the rate of 26 percent. This point is very important for Dagestan, where the entire economy is largely relies on small and medium businesses," said Khidirov.
