Russian MIA declares solving all terror acts in Northern Caucasus

All the terror acts committed in the territory of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) have been solved, Sergey Chenchik, Head of the GUVD of the MIA for the NCFD, said at a press conference today.

"They were not just solved, but we have bandits liquidated who committed them, and we have detainees, who evidence and take part in investigatory actions," said Mr Chenchik.

He also emphasized that on all the detainees there are irrefutable evidences of their involvement in terror crimes; many of them make confessions and actively contribute to the investigation. On a number of terror acts materials will soon be brought to the court, the "Interfax" reports.

According to Sergey Chenchik, this year power agents conducted 61 counterterrorist operations, which resulted in neutralizing 351 militants, including 32 leaders of bandit formations. 453 militants were arrested. 90 militants' bases and 274 hideouts were destroyed. Quite a lot of arms, weapons and ammunition were withdrawn from illegal circulation, including 12 flame throwers, 3 anti-tank missiles, 158 rocket-propelled grenades, 404 kilograms of explosives and 217 self-made explosive devices.

According to the MIA, 101 terror acts were prevented in the territory of the district. Nevertheless, as Mr Chenchik has noted, the situation in Northern Caucasus remains very tense.
