A telethon in support of Karabakh is starting in Los Angeles

Telethon-2010 carried out by the All-Armenian Fund "Ayastan" which will be broadcasted from Los Angeles, this year has a slogan "Water is Life". The donations collected will be directed to financing of building water supply systems in Nagorno-Karabakh and assistance to the program of village development in Armenia.

A reporter of "Caucasian Knot" informs that this year the Uruguayan branch of the All-Armenian Fund "Ayastan" will join the telethon. On November, 14, there was a live "Comitas Radio-hour" during which a radiothon was held and Uruguayan Armenians' donations were collected. On October, 1, the All-Armenian Fund "Ayastan" also received about three million drams (over 8,3 thousand dollars) during an SMS-voting in which about six thousand subscribers took part.

Besides, about 1,3 million euros were collected in a phonethon in France before the telethon for account of donations of five European countries: France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Greece.

Michelle Tankrez, representative of the French department of the All-Armenian Fund "Ayastan" in Nagorno-Karabakh said that over 50% donations collected during the telethon in France would be granted to Karabakh for solving the problem of water supply.

It should be mentioned that Bako Saakyan, President of Nagorno-Karabakh, is currently on a working visit in the USA for participation in the arrangement of annual telethon carried out by the All-Armenian Fund "Ayastan". Head Informational Department of the Apparat of the President of Nagorno-Karabakh reports that Bako Saakyan has had meetings with representatives of Armenian diaspora in the USA.
