A serviceman wounded as a result of firing in Chechnya

An armed attack upon the servicemen of a unit of federal military forces took place tonight in Urus-Martan foothill district of Chechnya. One of the servicemen got wounded in his head. Security officials are currently in search of the attackers.

A reporter of "Caucasian Knot" was told in the republican military commandant's office that a group of servicemen who were a covering force in the settlement of Martan-Chu, Urus-Martan district, underwent an attack from the forest massif. "As a result of the firing a twenty-six-year-old warrant officer got wounded in his head", our interlocutor said.

According to him, after the servicemen opened return fire the attackers stepped back and hid themselves in the forest. Military officers and local militiamen are searching the attackers.

Our interlocutor did not rule out that the firing might be committed by one of the "roaming" groups of gunmen developing their activities in this district.
