South Ossetia announces quarantine because of ASF outbreak

As reported by Vladimir Lolaev, head of the division of veterinary and agriculture of South Ossetia, his subordinates plan to liquidate by bloodless method about 1000 pigs in the outbreaks of the epidemic of African swine fever (ASF).

Let us remind you that mass swine deaths caused by ASF were registered in the regions of South Ossetia, which border on Georgia.

"According to the instruction, the quarantine lasts for a month, but we'll not manage to cope during this period; therefore, it will last till the end of this year," Lolaev said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He has noted that private households and a farm were affected. "The epidemic poses no danger to people. Besides, no other animals, except for pigs and wild boars will suffer," said Lolaev.
