Zakaev refutes Umarov's data that Chechens' Congress in Poland was funded by Soros

Dokku Umarov, one of the leaders of the underground in Northern Caucasus, said that George Soros, a US billionaire, had allotted money to Ahmed Zakaev, prime minister of the unrecognized Republic of Ichkeria, for holding the Chechen Congress in Poland this September. Zakaev denies this claim, arguing that Umarov is trying to discredit his activities and create an enemy in the face of the West.

According to Umarov, the Soros Foundation gave 10 million US dollars to hold the congress, which he treats as "Zakaev's concert". "Zakaev received the money," one of the websites supporting Chechen rebels quotes Dokku Umarov as saying.

Ahmed Zakaev said on air of the "Echo Moskvy" Radio that "this has absolutely nothing to do with reality."
