Sochi residents hold ecological action in defence of Black Sea

On October 31, local residents held an action for cleaning the bank of the Sochi River. About 50 persons within one hour of the campaign gathered 154 bags of household garbage.

The action was offered by activists of the Sochi branch of the Russian Geographical Society, since on October 31 all the Black Sea countries mark the International Day of the Black Sea; and, according to their version, the Sochi River is an important water body related to the Sea.

This year, the members of the ecological section of the Sochi branch of the Russian Geographical Society has noted that the situation on the beaches became better, there is now less garbage there, but huge dumps are still in plenty of river banks.
