Refugees in Georgia have been exempted from taxes for home sales
Refugees from Abkhazia and South Osetia in Georgia will now be able to sell the dwellings granted to them by the state without paying taxes.
According to Koba Subeliani, Minister of the Affairs of Refugees and Settlement, the Georgian Government at its session on November, 3, approved the initiative of the Ministry on exempting the refugees from the 12% income tax on home sales.
"The refugees will no longer be pinned down to the dwellings legalized to them by the state for a symbolic cost of one lari and will be able to sell their real estate", Subeliani said.
According to the Minister, the process of legalization of dwellings is going on all over Georgia. At present dwellings have been legalized for 17 thousand families.
The project of introducing respective changes to the Tax Code will be prepared in the nearest future and the Minister hopes that already by the end of the current year this decision of the Government will come into effect, "Novosti-Georgia" reports.
