Caucasian independent journal DOSH awarded with a prize "For Freedom of Press"

A ceremony of awarding a prize "For Freedom of Press" 2010 of the Association of Publishes IPA Freedom to Publish Prize was held on November, 2, in Istanbul. The prize was granted to DOSH independent Caucasian journal published in Russia.

According to the information from the organizing committee, this prize is awarded for outstanding bravery in defense of freedom of expressing opinions and freedom of press. The prize was handed to Israpil Shavkhalov, Editor-in-Chief.

"We are awarding the prize IPA 2010 to Israpil Shavkhalov, Editor-in-Chief of "DOSH" journal with a great respect for his courage and admiration with his passion and integrity which he demonstrates in such an amazing way", German Shpruit, President of International Association of Publishers, said.

"DOSH" journal was founded in 2003, it has four issues a year, is distributed in several regions of Russia, in the Caucasus and in Europe. It publishes news, comments, analytic materials and reports from the Caucasus. The journal pays special attention to individual stories of persons whose lives have been ruined by war. It receives and publishes letters from the Chechens serving their sentences in the prisons of Russia on forged criminal cases.
