Kabardino-Balkaria holds action "North Caucasus without alimonies"

On October 26, Nalchik, the capital of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), hosted the action named "North Caucasus without alimonies" and organized by the Service of Court Marshals of the regions of the NCFD (North-Caucasian Federal District).

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, a march was moving along the streets of the capital with posters and banners calling to responsibility for children and elderly people. Apart from court marshals, the youth government of the KBR and churchmen took active part in the event.

Adalbi Khagasov, head of the division for enforcement of the Russia's Federal Service of Court Marshals for KBR, stressed in his comment on the action: "We wanted to remind people that taking care about parents and children is a duty of every normal human."

According to his story, in 2010, 4631 alimony collection cases were initiated. Currently, 576 alimony defaulters are on the republic's wanted list and searched; 187 persons more have been criminally prosecuted under Article 157 of the Russian Criminal Code, 113 such cases have been considered already, 6 of them have been stopped for reconciliation of the parties.

The Court Marshals' Service is sending jobless alimony defaulters to the Job Centre for employment. "According to Islamic canons, a man is obliged to maintain not only his child but also the person who brings it up, that is, his former wife," said Hazretali Dzasezhev, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Moslems of the KBR, who also took part in the event.

"The practice of the Orthodox Church has no divorce; only the death or taking the vows by mutual consent may cause the spouses to depart. Children and parents shall be cared about; it's impossible even to think otherwise. I know nobody in our parish who has left his or her children," Father Oleg, an Orthodox priest, said in his turn.

It is planned that meetings of citizens, who are concerned with the problem of alimony debts, court marshals and churchmen, will be held regularly.
