Sochi holds film festival about life of people with disabilities

Over eighty documentaries, feature and animated films were presented to the 5th International Film Festival "Cinema without Barriers", held in the resort city of Sochi, Krasnodar Territory.

According to the organizers, the main mission of the festival is to generate equal and positive attitude to people with disabilities, show the diversity of talents in such people; "therefore the films presented in the program are very different - about victories and failures, dreams and creative talents of people with disabilities."

Thus, the Russian film "Kukushata" (Cuckoo Nestlings) tells about a disabled boarding school pupil who dreams of winning a competition in order to get the main prize - a mobile phone - and make a call to his mother. The British film "Their Eyes: Blind Ballerinas" tells about charitable ballet courses for visually impaired girls. The Serbian film "Old Man of 26" narrates the fate of a man, who became disabled at 24, lost his family and friends and was forced to go into a nursing home for elderly people.

The festival viewers will see a variety of works. Some of them were filmed by people with disabilities. Plenty of such persons invited to the festival from various Russian cities will also be among the viewers.
