Resident of Ingushetia blames doctors for negligence that led to his daughter's sterility

Boris Evloev, a resident of the village of Nesterovskaya (Ingushetia), states that his daughter Khava lost her reproductive function after spending a week in the Malgobek Central District Hospital (CDH) and intends to have a criminal case initiated on this fact.

On January 11, 2010, Khava Tangieva got to the maternity ward of the Malgobek CDH No. 1. Doctors made a Caesarian surgery on her, but the baby died. "And a couple of days later doctors said that my daughter needed another surgery. They said that infection had got there, and sepsis began. The operation resulted in Khava's sterility: she'll never have children," Boris Evloev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the operation was made by doctor Barakhoev, assisted by doctor Derbicheva, although on that day it was not her shift. "I started my own inquiry and found out that after the incident the CDH doctor was keeping the medical records saying that the baby had developed normally during pregnancy. The picture of the ultrasound investigation made before the birth was lost. When law enforcers interfered, doctors found the picture, but it seems to us that they replaced the original document," said Evloev.

He has noted that as of today there are no results of the investigation; and inspectors have not accused anyone yet.

The incident ruined Khava's family life; her husband refused from her; and she is now divorced.

The father states that he will insist on opening a criminal case, asserting that doctors admitted negligence. "I wrote to the General Public Prosecutor, and they answered that the Investigatory Committee had been instructed to study the incident. I also wrote to the president of the republic and received a response from the administration of the same content," said the source.

The office of the government of Ingushetia expressed condolences in its written reply to the query on the disaster that had happened with his daughter and partially admitted doctors' guilt in what had happened with Tangieva.

"Indeed, the doctors of the Malgobek CDH had failed to provide the proper medical care to Khava Tangieva. The Ministry of Public Health of Ingushetia conducted a service investigation. As a result, measures of disciplinary punishment were taken against the responsible persons who had admitted gross violations while performing their duties, which caused death of the child and the woman's sterility. Additional disciplinary measures will be taken on the results of the investigation," runs the letter.

In response to the father's request, the Prosecutor's Office of Malgobek only notified him that they had sent the case file for the check to the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office for Ingushetia.

No comments could be obtained from the Malgobek CDH No. 1.
