Congress of Chechen People in Grozny hopes to consolidate world Chechens

The main mission of the two-day World Congress of Chechen People opened today in Grozny was formulated by its organizers as unification of all the Chechens living in different countries of the world. Observers, however, believe that the forum is held in Grozny as an opposition to the World Chechen Congress, which was held on September 16 in Poland with the participation of representatives of the non-recognized Ichkeria.

Let us remind you that the  World Congress of Chechen People has brought together representatives of the Chechen Diasporas from various countries of the world, from the CIS republics and regions of Russia, as well as numerous guests. The total audience of the Congress is about a thousand; the forum is held under enhanced security measures.

The main issues to be discussed at the World Congress of Chechen People, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the office of the Chechen parliament, will be the problems dealing with "coordination of activities of the bodies of state power and assistance in integration of Chechens in the socio-cultural environment of their home countries, as well as analysis of adaptive processes of the Chechen Diasporas living abroad."

In the opinion of one of local experts, who preferred to remain anonymous, the Congress held in Grozny is a sort of an alternative to the recent forum in Poland.

In his opinion, this Congress will not be a turning point in history and will not solve any global problems.
