Accident leaves almost 25,000 without electricity in Rostov Region

The stormy wind that struck the Rostov Region at night on October 1 cut electricity supply to 24,700 residents.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the tonight's winds in Rostov-on-Don broke several air transmission lines.

"In total in the region, 3148 houses got de-energized: 540 houses in Rostov-on-Don; 150 households in the private sector of Novocherkassk; and over 4000 residents of the city of Shakhty," Marina Cherniavskaya, a representative of the Chief Department for the Rostov Region of the Russian MfE, has reported today.

Besides, according to her story, the squally wind at up to 25 m/s de-energized villages and farm of the Azov District, leaving over 2200 without electricity, the "Interfax" reports.

Strong winds were also observed in the Krasnodar Territory: in Sochi, railway traffic was suspended, as strong winds felled a tree, which broke the locomotive electric supply line.
