Chechen resident sentenced to 10 years in colony for preparing terror act in Moscow

The Moscow City Court has sentenced Turko Bataev, 23, a resident of Grozny, to ten years in a high security for preparing a terror act in Moscow in summer of 2009. This was reported today by the press service of the Moscow City Prosecutor's Office without specifying the date of sentencing.

According to the source, Bataev, a member of an illegal armed formation (IAF) arrived in Moscow on August 25, 2009, with the aim to commit a terror act. The young man had explosives and triggering devices hidden in his clothes and footwear.

According to the investigation, Bataev failed to carry out his intention, since on September 4 last year he was detained by law enforcers.

The court has upheld the prosecution and sentenced Bataev to ten years of high security colony, the "Pravo.ru" reports.

The stand of the convict or his defence is unknown.
