The French police detained three natives of Chechnya for suspicion of contacts with terrorists

On September, 27, operative agents detained three natives of Chechnya within the boundaries of an operation against a supposed terrorist network. DCRI, the French department of counter-intelligence, is carrying out the investigation.

It should be reminded that arrests of a number of natives of Chechnya in Le Man for suspicion of contacts with Dokku Umarov, leader of Chechen gunmen, were reported this July. Two of those detained were placed in lock-up wards, the third one has been released and is staying under police control. The fourth detained Chechen was released on July, 15, without arraignment.

The last detentions took place in the towns of Le Man an Nantes where two men and a woman were arrested. There was a search in their homes but the snatchers only discovered printed matter of terrorist contents, the web-site of French online paper "Ouest-France" reports referring to unnamed sources. According to this news-paper's message, the detained were taken into custody.

Public prosecutor's office in Paris dealing with cases of terrorism has not yet commented on the information, RIA "Novosty" reports.

According to the data of Parisian Public prosecutor's office, the detained natives of Chechnya are Russian citizens but have submitted requests for political asylum.

The reason of their detention has been the information received from Russian investigative bodies holding an inquiry of terror acts of this March in the Moscow metro.
