During three days of special operation in Chechnya one power agent is lost and 10 wounded

One law enforcement officer perished and ten of his colleagues were wounded during a special operation aimed to search a militant conducted in Chechnya since September 24. This was reported by the Investigatory Department (ID) for Chechnya of the Russian ICPO (Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office). Local experts believe that the large-scale operation was a sort of Kadyrov's response to the militants' attack on Tsentoroi village, Kurchaloi District, in late August.

"On September 24, during an armed clash in the Vedeno District one power agent was lost and five more were injured; there's no information about liquidated militants," said a source from the above ID.

The source has also reported that on September 26 during the fight another officer was wounded; and today, as of 9:30 a.m. Moscow time, "as a result of a battle 10 kilometres off Vedeno four other agents were injured, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, who, according to official data, was personally commanding the operation, promised to "smoke militants out of their burrows." Local experts believe that the large-scale operation was a kind of Kadyrov's response to the attack on his family village - Khoshi-Yurt (Tsentoroi) in the Kurchaloi District of the republic - committed in late August, in which power agents suffered serious losses.

According to another observer, there are no grounds to expect any serious results from the new large-scale campaign against militants in Chechnya. "Searching rebels in dense, virtually impassable forest massifs is practically impossible and senseless. This is what federals and local law enforcers are doing for almost ten years already. Kadyrov just needs some PR, it is important to show that he takes some actions and, unlike his counterparts from the neighbouring regions, is directly taking part in some actions, disregarding his own safety," said the source.

At the same time, as noted by one more observer, next year Ramzan Kadyrov will face re-appointment as the head of the republic; and a lot depends on how he shows himself today.
