Dagestan: detainee Kurbanmagomedov placed in IVS again

Timur (Suleiman) Kurbanmagomedov, accused of putting kiosks selling alcohol on fire, was transferred from SIZO-1 (investigatory detention facility) of Makhachkala to the IVS (temporary detention facility) of the MIA of Dagestan. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it from Magomed Guchuchaliev, Kurbanmagomedov's advocate.

"The delivery was made with violation of the law, since, first of all, I should have been informed about the transfer, which wasn't done," he said.

In his opinion, Kurbanmagomedov was moved with the aim to exert psychological pressure on him. "The IVS may be freely visited by employees of law enforcement bodies; they now demand from Timur to recognize a number of persons, whom he doesn't know and who had allegedly committed terror acts," said Guchuchaliev. He visited his client yesterday in the afternoon: "Timur looked tired; he is a little depressed, but still he keeps up."

The advocate also said that his other client - Zaurbek Magomedov, 23, a resident of Makhachkala - was also moved from SIZO-1 to IVS. "Here, the situation is unequivocally clear: they torture Zaurbek, forcing him to admit committing thirteen criminal episodes, starting from terror acts in Makhachkala and up to the explosion on a city beach. When he refused to sign prepared confessions, they took him out of the city, drowned in the sea, passed electric current through all his body and applied other forms of torture," said Guchuchaliev.
