Woman from Dagestan asserts that her husband was kidnapped and killed by power agents

On September 14, Karina Kelasova, wife of Revaz Kelasov, 31, who was kidnapped on August 18 in Makhachkala, said that on September 12 she was summoned to the prosecutor's office of the city of Kaspiisk, where she was shown photos of a blown-up car with two scorched bodies inside. In one of them Karina recognized her husband.

Earlier, as Gyulnara Rustamova, head of the public organization "Legal Assistance", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Karina Kelasova had addressed her with an application about her husband's disappearance.

Karina said that on August 18 in the afternoon Revaz accompanied her to her sister and wanted to return home and later to come to pick her up in the evening; but he never appeared. "I called him but he didn't answer. It became clear that he was kidnapped. Earlier, when we lived in Kaspiisk, he was hunted for by local power agents. I think it had to do with his religiousness. He wore a beard and prayed; he was an ethnic Greek by origin; and his parents are in Greece. He entered Islam, and we were going to leave, but couldn't. I had visa problems," said the woman.

"The photo that I was shown depicts two scorched bodies. My husband had burnt arms and lower body. The other body had obvious traces of torture, for example, a trace of a loop on the neck. I don't believe in an occasional explosion, as I know how our investigatory bodies work and that my husband was pursued for a long time," said Karina.

The Kaspiisk prosecutor's office has reported that Revaz Kelasov was found dead together with another person - supposedly, Renat Garachiev, 30, a resident of Makhachkala, who disappeared on August 17. Under the version of the investigation, they were transporting some explosive, which blew up and killed them.

Karina Kelasova said that Revaz was not Garachiev's friend, just knew him by sight; therefore, according to her version, he could not voluntarily happen in one car with him.
