North Ossetia starts a project aimed to defend consumers' rights

Today at 2:00 p.m., the project named "People's Control" was presented in Vladikavkaz, launched under the initiative of the North-Ossetian regional branch of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party.

The project will involve veterans, farmers, experts of the antimonopoly service and trade inspection, as well as employees of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision), trade unions and local authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the aim of the project is to protect consumers' rights and ensure the proper balance in the chain "producer-seller-consumer".

According to the project, North Ossetia will start everyday monitoring of the foodstuff market aiming to stabilize - through attraction of broad public - the pricing process on socially relevant products.

Let us remind you that starting August 15 Russia officially bans any export of grain crops; the embargo has to do with the decreased 2010 grain crop forecast from 90 down to 70-75 million tons.

Despite it, Russian regions Russian face continued growth of prices on goods and services. The reason is reported to be in droughts and landscape fires that captured Russia this summer.
