The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the State Office of Public Prosecutor of Abkhazia that the investigation was run by the investigatory department of the Gudauta ROVD (District Interior Division) and is supervised by the Office's Investigatory Department.

According to the information received in the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office, on July 24, at about 2 a.m., Mussa Takushinov, while driving his Lincoln car from Sukhumi, was attacked, in Primorskoe village, Gudauta District, by an unidentified person, who struck him on his head with a pistol and forced him to the bank of Dakhuara River. The attacker was accompanied by eight unidentified persons in two cars. These people beat Takushinov, who was later brought to the Gudauta District Hospital.

"In the course of interrogation, Mr Takushinov said that he didn't know the attackers and the reasons of why they beat him," the General Prosecutor's Office has noted. The attackers took nothing from Takushinov.

On August 12, in his exclusive interview to the "Caucasian Knot" President of Karachai-Circassia Boris Ebzeyev said that Takushinov's beating had to do with his public activities. According to his story, Takushinov was attacked soon after his public performance in Abkhazia. President of Karachai-Circassia also rejected the version that Takushinov was beaten because of non-returned debts.

On June 17, Takushinov criticized, along with other leaders of public and national organizations of the Karachai-Circassian Republic, the June 5 resolution of the Extraordinary Congress of Circassian People, which demanded to restore the Circassian Autonomous Region.
