In Dagestan, militiaman suspected of beating teenager asks to make his parents criminally responsible

Magomed Magomedov, a district inspector of the Shamil ROVD (District Interior Division) of Dagestan has addressed the magistrate judge of judicial constituency No. 93, Shamil District of Dagestan, claiming to bring the parents of Makhmud Ahmedov, 14, who was beaten by militiamen, to criminal liability.

The militiaman asks to institute criminal proceedings against Ahmedov, Khiramagomed Magomedovich, and Guseinova, Aishat Kurbanalievna - Makhmud's parents - under part 2, Articles 129, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (dissemination of willingly false data discrediting one's honour and dignity and undermining one's reputation in mass media).

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Svetlana Isaeva, head of the regional public organization "Mothers of Dagestan for Human Rights", that magistrate judge Ramazanov had considered the militiaman Magomedov's claim and ruled to take it to proceedings and recognize the militiamen as victim and Makhmud's parents - as defendants.
