Dagestan law enforcers assert that kidnapped Abdurakhmanov is among militants

The missing Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov, son of Shamil Abdurakhmanov, a federal judge of the Leninskiy District of Makhachkala, was recruited by members of the extremist underground and was a member of the grouping engaged in purchase and delivery to militants of regimentals, appliances, components for producing self-made explosive devices. This was stated by the united press centre of law enforcement bodies of Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the centre that the alleged kidnapping of Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov, "whose photo is present in pages of local newspapers during the last month, was a thoroughly staged performance."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Azha Abdurakhmanovа, a resident of Makhachkala and a member of the USSR Union of Journalists, addressed human rights activists with a request to help her to establish the whereabouts of her son Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov, who was taken away on June 25 by people in civilian clothes to some unknown place. According to her story, her daughter telephoned her and said that "when Abdurakhman went out to buy some mineral water, he was attacked by seven armed men in civilian clothes; five of them were in masks."

The full information of the united press centre of the law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Dagestan, together with a photo, where Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov poses together with well-known militants, was published in the Dagestan weekly "Novoye Delo" (No. 34 of August 27, 2010).

According to power agents, Abdurakhman's father - Shamil Abdurakhmanov, a federal judge of the Leninskiy District of Makhachkala, - knew the contacts of his son and addressed law enforcement bodies for advice "because of despair, after vain attempts to persuade his son and with the hope to pull him out of his rather specific circle of contacts."
