Grozny: eyewitnesses report abduction of "improperly dressed" girl

In the evening on August 23, in the Zavodskoy District of Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, unknown persons kidnapped a young girl. Eyewitnesses say that the reason of abduction was the girl's light dress. The militia has no data about the incident.

"Several persons moving in a jeep stopped a young girl who was without a headscarf and dressed in a light translucent dress. They started shouting at her that she was defiantly dressed; then one of them slapped her across the face," a resident of Chernorechye settlement, Zavodskoy District of Grozny, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the girl said something harsh in response; then, they grasped her, pushed into the car and left. "I don't know the kidnappers and the girl," said the source.

Law enforcement bodies of the republic assert that they have no information about the incident.

According to the activist of a local human rights NGO, who preferred to remain anonymous, recently Grozny sees cases when groups of young men stop girls and young women right in the streets, if they do not wear headscarves or are dressed in fitting dresses and short skirts, publicly offend them, and in some cases even grasp them by hands and pull the clothes, demanding to dress "properly".
