Azerbaijan: several enterprises fined for discharging wastewater into Caspian Sea

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the MIA of Azerbaijan have conducted a raid aimed to check the handling of wastewater on the coast of the Caspian Sea, which resulted in fines imposed on several enterprises.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, as a result of the raid, the Department of Sewer Service of Baku for discharging crude wastewater at stations of biological purification in Buzovna and Sakhil and of mechanical cleaning - in Zykha was fined by 27,000 manats (1 manat is about 1.25 US dollars, - comment of the "Caucasian Knot"), while the Joint-Stock Company "Azersu" was fined by 22,500 manats for discharging crude sewage at the Govsan aeration plant and at the mechanical clearing station in Khodzhasan village.

Besides, in Sumgait a number of private enterprises of public catering located on the coastal line within the boundaries of the city were fined by 600 manats each for discharging crude household drains, the "Vesti.Az" reports.
