Hacker Saaev sentenced to 2.5 years for cracking official North-Caucasian websites

The Supreme Court of Chechnya has sentenced Albert Saaev, who cracked official websites of the authorities of several republics of Northern Caucasus, to 2.5 years of high security colony for complicity to militants.

The Court found it proved that Saaev had acted on instruction of militants' commander Dokku Umarov.

The ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the General Prosecutor's Office that in the course of the inquiry Saaev completely pled guilty of complicity to militants and petitioned for a pre-trial agreement with the investigation.

"Due to his active participation in disclosing the crime, the fact that he has a dependent small child, and with account of the remaining punishment under the previous verdict, the Court has appointed punishment to Saaev in the form of two years and six months of imprisonment and a fine of 35,000 roubles," the General Prosecutor's Office reports.
