In Georgia, street traders are holding protest actions

On August 10, in front of the Tbilisi Mayoralty street traders held a protest action against liquidation of street trade.

Since August 10 on, Tbilisi has introduced an official ban of street trade, and the Mayoralty asks traders to respect the decision, otherwise "they will inevitably face serious problems."

According to traders, working at marketplaces is unacceptable because of high taxes, and now they risk staying without bread. They agree that sanitary standards should be observed in their work; and they are ready to pay for that.

The organizers of the action believe that street trade in civilized forms should be allowed; they plan to continue their protest until their demands are satisfied, the "Georgia Today" reports.
