Criminal case against Orlov sent from district to magistrate court

On August 10, the criminal case initiated against Oleg Orlov, head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", on slandering President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, was sent from the district court to the magistrate one, said the spokesman of the Khamovniki Court of Moscow.

Initially, the materials of the case were sent to the Khamovniki Court for consideration on the merits, the BBC reports. Now the "Interfax" adds, with reference to the above spokesman, that the Orlov's case will be considered by one of the magistrate judges of the Khamovniki District.

However, Andrei Krasnenkov, Kadyrov's advocate, believes that by delivering the case to the district court the inquiry bodies broke the principle of jurisdiction, the "BFM.ru" reports.
