Azerbaijan to head Consulting Council of Islamic countries at the United Nations

As announced today by Sheikhulislam Hadji Allahshukyur Pashazade, chairman of the Moslems' Administration of the Caucasus (MAC), in the near future setting up of the Consulting Council is expected at the United Nations, which will be headed by Azerbaijan.

"The Consulting Council will discuss the current issues and problems of Islamic countries and ways of settling them," the high-ranking churchman has emphasized.

Mr Pashazade has noted that Azerbaijan possesses experience of this sort of activities, "because Azerbaijan is heading a similar council in the UNESCO, which also includes Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia," the "1news.az" reports.

Touching on the work of religious figures in the Caucasus, he said that the MAC will issues certificates to them allowing religious activities, the "Trend" reports.
