Suspect of kidnapping detained in Kabardino-Balkaria

Militiamen have detained a resident of Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, suspected of an armed kidnapping of a resident of Maiskiy settlement from a route bus.

As explained by the driver of the bus "Nalchik-Maiskiy", at one of intermediate stops in Novoivanovka village, today at about 9:45 a.m. the road was blocked by a VAZ-21099 car. An unshaved man of about 35 years old went out of the car with a pistol in his hand and demanded, while knocking with the pistol handle into the windshield, to open the door of the bus. When in the bus, he pointed the pistol at one of the passengers on the back seat and ordered him to get into his car (which, as it became known later, had been hijacked and was searched by the Nalchik UVD (Interior Department), and then disappeared.

The incident was reported to the militia by a mobile phone. The operation aimed to detain the suspect and release of the kidnapped person lasted for 90 minutes. The car with both men was stopped in Alexandrovskaya village of the Maiskiy District. As reported by militia colonel Mikhail Karmaliko, acting head of the Maiskiy OVD, the suspect was a jobless, earlier convicted resident of Nalchik, born in 1982. The detainee has already given his confessions.
